Party Bus In The House Tonight

Guys this past weekend = Sydney's Birthday Bonanza = Success!!

I went down to DC on Friday morning to attend this blissful event - thankfully it was an uneventful train ride.  I couldn't wait to get there!!  We were extremely mature on Friday night and we just went for a very casual dinner with Hillary, home watching programs by 10 pm.  Saturday was not so much in the maturity department.

Amy rolled into town at the delightful hour of 9 am.  She caught a grossly early flight out of Boston to come to Sydney's bday!  We decided it was in our best interest to get a nice big breakfast, so off to IHOP we went.  Our server's name was Saba and Sydney kept referring to her as "Saba the Hut", so you can imagine that our day was off and running.

Hillary, Ruby and others started arriving at Sydney's around 11 am and that's when it allllll began.  Bottles popped and drinks flowed.  And then the best part…our party bus rolled on up!!  Yes folks, that's right, we rented a party bus to take us to Annapolis for the day for a lil pub crawl.  Why you ask…simple…we're just that mature!  Is it not normal for a group of 30+ year old women to roll onto a bus filled with alcohol and drive about?!

Sampson was our driver and he was great.  He obliged our pictures, loud music and overall raucous behavior like a champ!  One of Sydney's co-workers made up this whole spy themed scavenger hunt and it was amaze!  She did such a great job - we even got goody bags!!

We finally rolled into Annapolis like we owned the joint.

First stop...Pussers.  Yup there's an actual bar called Pussers.  Prob one of the most disgusting names of a place I could think of, but you know, it was great.  We sat outside on the water, drank these things called Pain Killers (hard to swallow at first, then they went down pretty easy!), it was great.  And luckily it was a gorg day - such a tease - but that's another story!  After that we went to 2 other bars, grabbed more drinks and some amaze seafood.  We just really had the best time.  I had so much fun with the girls, there were 10 of us total and it was just perfect.  Everyone was soooo fun and the ride back was more eventful!

We eventually got on the bus, it seemed like we were only there for like an hour, but it was really 4!  That's when things began to go south.  And by south I mean everyone was pretty drunk.  Did I mention there was a stripper pole on the bus??  Because there was.  Did I also mention we brought a bunch of snacks…because somehow most of them managed to be spilled on the floor and became a mushy, gross, disgusting situation.  One of the girls tried to go on the pole, fell to her knees and was covered in goldfish sludge.  Which, side note, she couldn't figure out afterwards why it was like that, like she had bright orange goo on her jeans and she was just like - welp that happened and went out for the night.
Amazing.  I literally almost wet my pants I was laughing so hard.

The best part of the whole day, to me at least, I think really sums up our whole experience.  Sydney and I were getting off the bus (at the end when we got back to her apartment) and she looks back at me and this was our exchange:

Sydney:  Ummmm Lizzie where's my purse??  I can't find my bag.  Should I be concerned??
Me:  I mean I'm sure it's around here somewhere - you had it when we got on, right??
Sydney:  I think so.  I mean who knows - I guess it's not a big deal.
Me:  Let's look around (look around to a disgusting mess, bag no where in sight).
Sydney:  Ohhh here it is!  (Reaches into the trash can - yup the trash can - and pulls out her Kate Spade as if it was totally normal)
Me:  Nodding (agreeing that it seemed totally normal)...
well

We then proceed to go out to dinner and stay out until midnight, at least that's when Amy and I called it a night, Ruby & Sydney rolled in around 3 am.  How - no clue?!  Sunday we all felt amazing - Sydney Uber'd Amy & I a car because she was pretty sure  she'd get a DUI if she tried to drive us anywhere.

It was just such a delightful weekend.
I love seeing my girlfriends and missed the ones that couldn't make it.  I'm a lucky girl…I have the best most fun most amazing friends a girl could ask for!  Ok - sorry that started to get a lil mushy - I've been all sentimental about these fools lately!!  I'll stop now.

Oh Ron...Do Go ON!!

Hello friends!  Happy gross Tuesday!  It's raining and not pleasant here - so hopefully it's a lil nicer where you are.  How were all the weekends?  Mine was pretty solid!  I'll recap for you.

Well my bday was on Friday, so there's that.  I woke up, got out of bed and said - make this a good day!  I didn't feel like doing anything, but I was trying to pump myself up.  So I took extra time doing my hair & makeup, put on new outfit, and embraced the day.  I left my apartment and it was kinda misting out, but not too bad.  I literally didn't even make it up the block and the skies opened up - TORENTIAL down pour.  I was like a drowned rat.
I had an umbrella but it didn't do a thing with the sideways rain that was going on.  I finally got to work and I was basically wearing no shirt because I had on a white button down.  So it was like I was just wearing a skirt and my bra.  One of the "head guys" at work who's about 78 years old was like "umm do you want a shirt, I have an extra in my closet".  Totally sweet, but I just stomped passed and mumbled "I'll be in my office wringing myself out - see you in an hour".  And then my secretary scurried in and gave me her desk fan which she set up for me so it would blow in my face and try to dry me off.  Oh and did I mention that my hari was a rats nest and I had makeup streaming down my face?!  Oh I didn't - well that happened!  And don’t worry I'm still using bronzer to pretend I'm still tan from the summer - so my face was basically half brown/half white and I had mascara dripping down.  So that's how the day started - awesome.  The rest of the actual day didn't improve by much.  And all my friends here weren't going to be here that night, so I planned on just going home and wallowing.

So I left work, went and got a mani/pedi - trying to salvage the day.  After that a girl I work with (who was supposed to be going out of town) texted me and told me to meet them at this bar because she was going to stay in the city after all.  So I was back and forth and then forced myself out.  And I'm glad I did - it wound up being a great night!  Just a few work peeps and a lot of alcohol.  We went to a few different bars and things were getting a lil cray.  We randomly met these 2 men from Haiti who were amazing.  They were older and talking to us for awhile.  Oh this was after some other man spilled his glass of red wine down my leather bag (that I got in Barcelona) and I almost lost it/burst into tears.  Anywho…the one guy, Ron, was quite a character.  At one point I was standing with my work crush (oh don’t worry he was there all night buying me drinks and having fun) and this was our exchange with Ron:

Ron:  Are you 2 brohter and sister??
Us:  (giggling/shocked because we look nothing alike) umm no!
Ron:  Well good because you 2 need to date!
Us:  (laughing awkwardly, giggling, me looking at the floor/turning purple, etc.)
So basically we're married now - at least according to Ron.  Soooo after that we wound up at this dive bar. Really fun - and this is when things start to get hazy.  I know I invited myself to a co-workers wedding (awesome) and I know I took myself home around 2 am.  I also know that I changed my shoes on the sidewalk. I also know that I woke up on my couch in a t-shirt and undies around 6 am with the TV & lights on with Whole Foods mashed potatoes in front of me.  So choose your own adventure as to how my night ended.

Then Saturday morning came and I felt atrocious.  I was heading to West Chester, PA to see some of the girls.  I made a miraculous recovery though by the time I got there and it was all good.  I was able to power through and have another fab night!  We went to a great dinner, caught up, and went out to few fun bars.  All of us pretending we still "have it"!!

All in all it was a great weekend - despite it being my birthday!  Happy work week - we're almost there!!

Wedding Bells Rang!!

Hey world, I'm back.  Sooo there has been a lot going on - like mayjah things peeps!  Most importantly, my lil bro just tied the knot!!  This past weekend was a whirlwind of fun and emotions and coupled with the insanity I like to call work, things have been pretty cray.
So the wedding was gorg - despite the torrential downpours that happened.  It was raining sideways.  NBD. Here's a few highlights because to spell it all out would take like about 20 years…
- I drove up to Boston with my brother, SIL and 3 year old nephew.  Sat in the back seat.  We pretty much had the best time ever.  My nephew and I sat back there and chilled/chatted.  It was great bonding time.   Shared some snacks, NBD.  Don’t worry I pretty much had a bag of Goldfish with me the entire weekend and he actually said these words to the flower girls "are you guys hungry??  My aunt will give you Goldfish if you want them - she ALWAYS has them."  Sooo if you ever need them - you know who to turn to!
- I got a spray tan from Benefit which was amaahhhhzing.  Everyone complimented it and said it looked soooo natch.
- We saw David Spade at dinner Thursday night.
- I saw my sister's wedding gown and picked out my bridesmaid dress!!
- As we pulled up to the church for the rehearsal a homeless man was peeing on the lawn.  Sooo that happened.
- My sibs & I made a slideshow that pretty much rocked the entire rehearsal dinner.  Just saying.
- We got our hair done and I was obsessed with my stylist.  We pretty much laughed the entire time.  including when I said I wanted a messy low bun and he said "honey I don’t do that.  let's not say 'messy'".  Ummm pretty much that's my "go-to style", but whatevs you can do whatever you'd like.  And I wound up with a low bun with "detailing".
- I had my first air-brush makeup job and it did not disappoint.
- My nephew wore a 3 piece seersucker suit.  Nuff said.
- My newest SIL looked like a doll.  She was amazingly gorgeous.  My brother looked so handsome and they were 2 of the happiest bride & groom I've ever seen in my life!
- Richard Simmons was staying at our hotel - the one where the reception was, too - there may have been pics taken by my relatives.  And there were a lot of sparkles.
- My brother's best man speech made me cry - like a small child.  It was so heartfelt and awesome.
- We pretty much rocked our faces off on the dance floor.  I may or may not have had a dance off with my brother's friend.  It was amazing and one of the best things I've ever been involved in - in my entire life.  He was quite the worthy opponent and at the end - we just joined forces and gave everyone the show they came out to see.
- I heart my brother's friends.  Even though one of them referred to me as "medium-old".
- Sunday came wayyyy too quickly.  I can't believe it's all over!  Wahhhh!

This weekend is one Ms. Coco's baybay shower!!!  I'm sooo excited to see the girls, I'm in a bit of a withdrawl state!!  I'll have more to report in the  next few days!!  XOXO

What Is The Universe Trying To Tell Me?!

Hey kids, lil 'ol me here!  Sorry for the long pause - things have been beyond hectic, but I'll give you a few updates on my life and what's been going on in good 'ol Lizzie-ville.  Apparently I'm into the "'ol's" today.
1.  I went to DC this past weekend - yup my old stomping grounds!!  It was sooo much fun.  Jason (Ruby's husband - ps he picked his name and was super excited about it - best thing ever!) picked me up from the airport Friday night and then it began!  I met Ruby at their house, we changed, got ready and into the city we went!  We met up with a bunch of my old work cronies and Sydney even surprised me! Hilary and Kit met up with us later too.  Things got wayyyy out of control, as per usual with this old work crowd.  We basically just had a debaucherous evening that ended with me throwing up in an ally (which may or may not have been a gas station, but I'm sticking to an ally because it sounds more classy).  It was one of the most fun nights ever!  I woke up on Ruby's couch, fully clothed, with my hoop earrings still in.  Saturday was not as fun.  The girls came over for brunch and I was so not feeling well!  I tried to drink a lil bit, but that just wasn't an option.  So we all just hung out and had a low key day.  My flight back was super early on Sunday, so it actually was for the best that things remained under control!
2.  I saw American Reunion with Giuliana on Sunday. Seriously - it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be.  There were definitely a few funny parts, but I just really hoped they'd knock it out of the park and it was kind of flat lined for me.  BUT I mean I had to see it, it was part of my youth and generation.  I mean I was class of 1999, too!  BUT after the movie we walked around our neighborhood adn enjoyed the gorg weather.  I'm such a nerd, but I really love where I live in this big crazy city!
3.  Not only did my Pilates class kick my butt on Monday, my spin class kicked my tush yesterday!  Like I'm having trouble moving people!  And I have another Pilates session today!  Wahhhh!
4.  TV notes:  Giuliana & Bill is making me sob like every episode.  I'm so obsessed and I want to be like in their marriage - I heart them sooo much.   The Voice is unbelievable!  I'm like in shock after every episode.
Last night was no different - my girl RaeLynn got sent home - NOT COOL!!  But it was a hard choice, I just think she's so darling!  And can we discuss Adam Levine for just a minute.  Like I want to jump his bones and his little performance only solidified that we were obviously meant to be married.  I'm just saying.
5.  Lastly, I've been feeling a little "meh" lately.  Can't quite explain, but just not myself and a little "down in the dumps".  Well I think the universe is trying to help me express my feelings because I kid you NOT this was my "playlist" that was completely RANDOM on my walk to work this morning:

Survivor - Destiny's Child

I Wanna Go - Britney Spears

Empire State of Mind - Jay Z

Wonderful World - James Morrison

Rolling in the Deep - Adele

I mean - COME ON!!!  Like could this be anymore telling of my life right now?!  INSANITY!!
Ok that's all for now folks, but I promise I'll be better…and by promise I mean…

D "C...I still Miss Ya"

For some reason today I'm feeling nostalgic for my old stomping grounds - Washington, DC!!  Not sure why this sudden wave of "home sickness" - I mean the obvious ones are missing the great people/friends I left behind - but I do keep in touch with most of them.  Anyways - I thought it might be a fun opportunity to highlight a few of my favorite "spots" down there and next time you visit - you should definitely check them out!!

Ella's Wood Fired Pizza
OMG how I miss Ella's!  This was the "birthday lunch" spot for the 3+ years that I worked at my former place of employment.  Not only do they have the best pizza, but the sangria is amazing.

I recall one occasion when Ruby and I were just going to "grab dinner" randomly after work and whoops - 2 pitchers later we found ourselves at another bar with Ruby throwing my business cards at random men hoping to find me a date.  Although that part didn't work - the food/drinks was right on par!  Even the "Mixed Greens" salad is delish.  Ruby, Juan & I did try to figure out the recipe for the dressing once, however we all felt strongly it had different ingredients - the only common one being olive oil - so needless to say none of us could recreate this one.  This is definitely a "must go" if you have some time down there.

Matchbox
One word - SLIDERS!

By far Matchbox has the BEST sliders I've ever had.  They're just perfection. The are on these amazing brioche buns with a little pickle and served with these delectable onion straws.  In fact, Ruby & I ate those (and pizza & about 2 bottles of wine) before the Justin Timberlake concert - if I haven't discussed this before - I will - it's a good one.  The only problem was that we both tend to get indigestion at times and this was one, coupled with the fact that we had to drink beer out of straws - so gross.  We were burping up onion straws all night.  Haha - soooorrrry to the people around us!!  Whoops!

Luna
Now I used to live in Bethesda, right outside the city, and this store was my savior.  I was so obsessed. The girls working there are complete dolls and over time got to "know" me - kinda embarrassing/kinda loved it.  The clothes are a great mix of inexpensive/pricier.  The jewelry is fab - again you can find a ton of stuff for really not that much.  It's def a go to if you're in the area!

Founding Farmers
Hands down one of my favorite restaurants anywhere.  Not only is the food is so fresh and awesome, the décor is fab.  The drinks are the best!  You can just taste the organic/freshness in everything.  And the best part - it's not crazy expensive!  I've had a bunch of different things on the menu and I've never been disappointed.  They also have a sister restaurant in Georgetown on the water called "Fishers & Farmers" - go to either one - you wont be let down!

Georgetown Cupcakes
Speaking of Georgetown, I'd be remiss if I didn't include Georgetwon Cupcakes on this list.  Hands down - the best cupcakes.  Period.

And I've tried a ton, including the ones in NYC.  I still go back to them every time!  The cake is so tasty and the icing is "just enough"!  I heart them and miss them immensely - but my waistline - not so much!

Georgetown Shopping
Despite what a pain in the butt it was to get in there, I do miss wandering around Georgetown on a beautiful spring/fall day.  It's such a great little area and the shopping is fabulous.  And now they even have a Vineyard Vine!!  Amazeballs!

Afterwords Cafe
Now this is more of a "quirky" place.  It's in the back of a "mom & pop" bookstore.

Basically the food is fabulous and the price is just right.  It's a perfect spot to have a good meal, but not feel like you're breaking the bank.  I usually go for the salmon & the mashed potatoes - can. not. go wrong.  And the wine/drink list is great!

Lauriol Plaza
Now this was one of my main jams.  Seriously - this Mexican place is to die for.  The best part is - the margaritas are the best in the area!

My guuurrlls and I would go here for Valentine's Day dinner (whether we were single or not) and just sit up on the rooftop (they put us up there to make room for all the other couples downstairs) and eat and drink.  We'd just have so much fun - I miss that tremendously!  The enchiladas and margs - that was my go to.  And the guac is fantastic!

The National Mall
This is something that I really miss daily.  During my work day - instead of lunch - I used to either go to the gym in our building or head out for a run.  I was so fortunate to work in such a gorgeous area of the city.  I would run down to the Capitol building and then up through the National Mall.  It was amazing to just get lost in the "DC-ness" of it and enjoy the people watching!  Of course I had my "hating tourists" moments, but overall, I really enjoyed those runs!

As much as I heart NYC, I still do miss certain things about DC.  They are both amazing cities.  BUT there is NOTHING quite like NYC and this is my home - it's great to be back!!

Still Got It

I think I'm getting punked - like for realsies.  All of a sudden work has been off the hizzle.  Like I don’t have time to go to the bathroom kind of hizzle.  I've had like a billion meetings between yesterday and today and yesterday was just a show.  And on top of it I was having "stomach issues" - probably the last thing I want/need while at work.  Oh and my office is not conveniently located in/next to the bathroom - which means I was running back and forth looking like a freak.  So I apologize for no post Monday - but it was a situation…aka "The Situation".

Ok so let me dig into my memory and lets delve into the weekend.  Friday was spent chilling - doing laundry, cleaning a bit, just really nothing, oh and I got my nails did - "My Private Jet" - one of my absolute faves!

Because I had to save up for Saturday - A Sizzle was  in the hizzle - haha - omg I'm such a poet!  So Saturday I was up bright and early and caught the train to CCK's hood.  It was fine - no real problems - except I did have to move my seat once.  I got all situated and settled and all of a sudden this group of loud, older women got on (all the while I was thinking please don’t sit by me, please don’t sit by me), oh but they did.  And they were wearing the smelliest/strongest perfume of life.  Gurlfriend could not handle that - and they were loud on top of everything else!  So I got up and moved.  I got to CCK's stop and she picked me up, I got to see their new digs and off we went.  It was great to catch up and we had a really nice time talking and filling each other in on our lives!
We rolled into AC and you just knew you were there.  Like you can't even describe it - but you just know.  The clothes, the hair, the makeup, the smoking - it all just takes you right to that special place. We had to walk through the casino to get to the lobby - awesome.  We got our rooms and threw our stuff away.  We went to grab lunch and Bessie joined us.  After lunch we walked around a bit and waited for the other girls.
Once everyone arrived we were raring to go!  We went to Continental for dinner - ammmahhhzing.  It was great - we just ordered a bunch of small plates and all shared.  We had great drinks and nothing was rushed.  When we finished up dinner, obviously with "Key Lime Tacos" that were so delish, we were good to go!!  We decided to head to this bar that we had been to before.
We got there and they were trying to charge us $5 cover charge.  Let me explain this to you - this bar is in the casino - like literally in the middle of the casino - there are just velvet ropes sectioning it off. There are girls dancing on the bars - "professionals" and that is the bar.  So Bessie was having none of it.  She was like that's ridiculous we're not paying - unless you can give us a discount.  With that the girl was like "I'd have to talk to my manager".  To which Bessie replied "Ok, I'll wait".  Then all of a sudden we were all getting in for free - haha it was awesome!
So we bellied up to the bar and it began the best people watching of life.  I mean this place was amazing.  It was also nice for us to be able to chat/digest and relax after dinner.  My favorite person of the whole night, though would have to be a girl who was turning 30.  She was wearing the tightest outfit I had ever seen in my life and she was not a teeny tiny girl - like this outfit wouldn't look good on Kate Moss.  And then she had a button that said "Dirty 30" - so awesome.  And THEN my favorite part was her mask.  Yes - you read that correctly - she had a mask - like legit elastic around her head, covered her whole face mask of feathers and weird things.  She wore that thing like a champ - actually I don’t even know if she knew she was wearing it - she was so wasted it was insane.  Talk about "dancing like no one is watching".

When we had fulfilled our people watching quota for the evening, we headed to Dusk.  Now let me break this down - Dusk is a nightclerb/lounge.  We're not really "that type of girl", but we were ready to dance and needed to hear some good music.  They were playing fun stuff, so all of us jumped right in - we're not what you'd call a "shy" group.  We stayed there for awhile and it was quite the scene.  At one point CCK was getting groped like one of Snooki's poor pickles.

It was just a scene.  Eventually we had our fill and headed home.  And let me tell you - it was not early!!  We still can pull it out when we need to!  Thank God a few of the girls thought to bring snacks - pretty sure I woke up to a "cup" full of Baked Cheetos next to my bed - ok ok!
Sunday was not the best of days - but we powered through.  After a wonderful car ride back with CCK I took a delightful boat ride back to the city - it was great - nice and relaxing.  And then I made myself a permanent fixture on my couch!  Just the way I like it!!
Sooo also - quick note - did anyone catch the RHOBH reunion?!  Some majah dramz is about to go down.  So excited it's a 3 part extravaganza!!!  The girls were just in full affect last night - and Camille looked great

while Adrienne was sporting some vibrant colors - but her makeup was flawless - love!

I can.not.wait until next week - that's when things are really gonna hit the fan!!!
SOOOOO happy Tuesday - almost Wednesday - which means it's almost Thursday - which means it's almost the weekend!  Basically we're there!!  XOXO

Play By Play - "Would You Be Embarrassed If I Wore My Wings Out?!"

Y'all - things are about to get rull.  This weekend I'm heading back to the fabulous Dirty Jerz and bee-lining straight to my favorite place and yours…ATLANTIC CITY!!  It's actually far from my favorite place - but it does hold a very special place in my heart.
Me, Sydney, CCK, Bessi, and 2 of CCK's besties are taking AC by storm!!  It's gonna be slightly out of control - as only we can get.  I'm totally psyched.  I can't wait to share with you all on Monday!!

And now - this is a little something new - I'm going to give you the Jersey Shore play by play - these are my reactions as I'm watching the show…
- Danny's "meeting" with all the roommates.  So serious.  No one knows where Situation is - Danny calls him "useless".  Amaze.  Things need to really happen at the t-shirt shop - seriously.
- Situation crying a river. He's so sensitive - so ridiculous - over it.
- Meatballs are banged it out at the Shore Store.  Their reward - obviously a fake tattoo.
- Snooki needing to learn how to "walk hard".  The practicing = priceless.
- The pimp interview.  I mean I don't think I need to really say more.
- I heart that JWoww tore down the "help wanted" sign.  And btw - when did Danny said that by putting up a "help wanted" sign = new roommate?!
-  Umm the bunny heads - ooc.
- THE SURPRISE PARTY.  The fact that they were handcuffed to wheelchairs - I mean who thinks of these things?!    And Situation loves his stripper & takes her home.  Obviously.
- The confessional room with Deena & Ronnie - both crying.  Could. not. be. more dramatic.
- When they put the bunny costumes one - I die.  I literally peed my pants when they scared Jenni - Cyrussly - amazing.
- Couples night at the clerb - sans Snooki because she's too busy smooshing.  Sam's fight is ludicrous - like what the f even happened?!  And it was her new weave?!   I'm still confused - it was all so quick and the girls were being pulled upside-down?!  Cray!
- "I'm just trying to - ya know - do sex and this freaking clock keeps going off!" - Deena - put so eloquently as Deena can say things.
- Best part of the the whole episode - Vinny's kidnapping. I just truly heart Pauly D's and his bromance.  And that they're all doing the sign of the cross - dying.  And Deena trying to be serious in those wings.   And that tat - not one person understood.  I mean - I get it - but I just love how no one understood.  And now...whole crew back together!
And that about wraps it up!!  Enjoy your weekends!!  Be safe and think of me winning millions at the roulette table!

Go Ruby It's Your Birthday!

So we'll take a brief Europe hiatus to discuss this past weekends festivities!   Ruby's birthday extravaganza was a fabulous time and I have no voice and my eyes can't stay open as proof!
I had a flight down there Friday night - I met Charlotte at the airport - it was really pretty seamless.  My ride to the airport was a lil uncomfortable - there was an older man across from me on the subway and he WOULD NOT stop staring at me.

It made me feel very creeped out, but I couldn't really do much about it, so I just decided to pretend I was sleeping.  Anyways…Charlotte and I grabbed dinner together then boarded the plane.  Basically you take off and land in like a hot second.  I'm reading Bossypants right now - if you haven't already done so - please do yourself a favor and read this book.

I literally laughed out loud a few times, but thank God the guy next to me had already read the book, so he totally understood and didn't think I was a weirdo.  So we landed, went outside and waited for Hilary to pick us up.  We were also waiting for Amy & Coco to arrive, which worked out perfectly and they got there about 15 minutes after us!
After dropping bags off at Hilary's we headed to Ruby's.  It was a very low key night and we just caught up.  We are getting a lil old (aka Hags are here), so we try to keep Fridays low key.  Around 1 am we decided to head back to Hilary's to go to bed.  We had to split into 2 groups for cabs so Coco and I stayed behind for the next one.  As we were waiting, one pulled up and poured out this disastrous couple.  They were so bombed.  The girl literally fell out of the cab, stood to the side, spit on the ground, touched it, and then tried to stand back up.  The guy wasn't much better, but was trying to keep her in check.  It was hilarious.  Coco and I just watched in judgment.
We got up Saturday morning, had bagels, did a crossword puzzle (again, Hags are here) and waited for Ruby.  When she finished her morning errands, we met her for lunch.  It was great - just relaxing and we all get to catch up some more.  We had to get ready so early, that after lunch, we pretty much needed to just head back to Hilary's to start getting ready.  Then our night began!
We started at Ruby's and all met up there.  A few other people joined us, including Kit!  Gang's all here!  Ruby's husband arranged for a limo to take us to dinner and the bar, so obvi we were riding in style!  The limo was so fun - we all had a great time.  We had dinner at Buddha Bar - amazing.  It was really good - I highly recommend it.  After a few pics with the Buddha, it was on to the bar!
We headed to Napoleon - which is one of my fave bars in DC, so I was really excited.  On our way there, the limo driver stopped at a few monuments along the way.  My favorite was when he stopped at the Capitol building, we all piled out for a quick pic, next thing - pretty sure we broke out into a patriotic medley.  It was amahhhzing and prob the best part of the night!  So much fun!

We got to the bar just as a bunch of my old co-workers were walking in.  I was more than ecstatic to see them!  It's been forever so I basically jumped them all upon walking into the bar.  We had to head to the downstairs area first, they were still serving dinner upstairs.  Downstairs is great - but its kind of like a frat house basement.  Music blasting and you sweat just by standing in one spot.  So you can imagine how this worked out for me.  Basically every 1/2 hour I went upstairs and stood outside.   BUT the music was so fun and everyone was just dancing and having a good time.  eventually we were able to head upstairs and have more "civilized" conversations.  It was just so fun to see everyone and catch up with old friends.  I hate that I don’t see their faces daily anymore and I just have so much fun with them, that it makes me wanna move back down.  But that's the fun of visiting, too, I get to see them, have a great time, and then it makes me appreciate DC that much more!
Sunday was not fun waking up at 8 am …worst!  BUT it was good to get home early and lay on the couch for the rest of the day.
I wish you a fabulous Thanksgiving and I'll see you all back here next week!!  XOXO

Applebalaktic Shock

What's up on this groddy Wednesday?!  Well I've just been split your pants kinda busy lately.  Soo Sydney and I went back to our old stomping grounds this past weekend and it did not disappoint!  Our "class" all day Saturday was long and we were so over it by 3 pm, but we made it through and got some good stuff out of it.  Here's a lil recap of the rest of our weekend!
My train ride down was pretty uneventful - just the way I like it!  I had virtually no issues and just watched a movie and read my magazines.  Syndey got stuck in a boat load of traffic, so it took her about 2.5 hours to make a 1/2 hour trip to pick me up.  She finally secured me and off we went!  Our ride out was good - good to catch up and chat.  Our first whack attack experience occurred as we were stopped at a light heading into town.  This car of hoodlums motioned to roll down our window,

Sydney did and this was their exchange:
Kid:  Hey ma - you got a boyfriend
Sydney:
  What?!
Then they sped away
We finally got to campus and pulled into our luxurious hotel.  Let me explain this - it was anything but.  Here's a lil pic:
We checked in and got into the elevator.  Immediately we were in for it.  It smelled so rancid, I don’t even know how to describe it.  The doors opened, we were hoping for relief, no go - the hall smelled even worse.  And then…our room.  Sweet baby Jesus.  It was this God awful stench that I kid you not made me gag the second I opened the door.
We thought it was just "musty" and turned on the air.  Oh here's the other thing - we had no other place to go.  Everything was sold out and booked - this was our only option.  So we quickly threw our stuff down and headed to dinner.  One of our fave places - so delish!  We had to wait about an hour for a table - but it was so worth it.  After dinner we drove around campus and then headed right to Wal-Mart.  We decided over dinner that getting sleeping bags & pillows was going to be in our best interest. Best $25 I ever spent.  Sooo this is what we slept on…I had red, Sydney had blue.
When we got back, we pretty much went to bed.  We had to be up at 7 am for class, so we didn't want to do anything too wild.  Again, class was ALL day, so nothing crazy happened.  My favorite line of the day was after we got all of our "assignments" and Sydney leaned over and said "I'm going to lose my job because I'm going to be so busy leading!"
After class, we headed back to hell…I mean out hotel to change and get ready for a night on the town!  We went to our favorite place - 2 hour wait for dinner…womp womp!  BUT we were able to get a seat at the bar so that made it so much better.  An app and a few drinks later we were good to go!  Dinner was delish - despite the worst table ever that we had. Basically it was a "two top" in the middle of the aisle - so awkward.  Everyone could see you eating and just watched - we were totally "on display".  After dinner we headed back to the bar - we were both feeling pretty good!  At one point I looked at Sydney and said "did you guys hear that?!", to which she replied, "yes and I'm just one person - it's only me - no one else". Whoops!  This is also when Sydney told me she couldn't eat a certain food because she'd go into "Applebalaktic Shock".  I'm sorry - what?!  I believe you meant Anaphylactic Shock.  Heart this.  So we did some people judging and then got annoyed with the "younger folk", so we decided to change scenery.
We went into one of our old bars and I immediately had to walk out.  they still allowed smoking - inside - so gross!!  I couldn't deal for a hot second!  Then we went to the last place of the night - things sure have changed!  Drinks were only $5 - kind of amazing.  The clientele was quite different and the music was good - not the same - but good.  We saw a few people that we knew, including a guy I may or may not have made out with during college.  Sydney thought it'd be fun to talk to him…
Sydney:  Hey (hitting him on the shoulder) - do you remember us?!  I'm Sydney and this is Lizzie.
Guy:
Oh yah - I do kinda (pretending he didn't know exactly who we were).
Awkward silence
Me:
Welp - good to see you!
Shortly after we took ourselves to the late night diner we frequented oh too often as students.  Hasn't changed a bit!  Then we walked home, hopeful that we were drunk enough to not be bothered by the stench and grossness of our room.
Sunday we went to breakfast, walked around campus and then headed out.  My train home was good, despite having to sprint for it (after the changed the times on me)!
All in all it was great weekend - even with the awful hotel - it builds character!  Guys - the countdown is beginning today - Sydney, my sister and I leave for Portugal & Spain in 1 WEEK!!!  I REPEAT 1 WEEK!!!  I couldn't be more excited but I have so much to do between now and then!!  AHHHHH!!!
