Happy Friday my little chickadees!! This was an actual email I got from a friend,
so I thought I'd share - seemed fitting for this past week.
I hope you're all staying warm and dry. It's like a gross mix of rain, snow, slush,
etc. in the city. Actually that started my morning…I decided to
take the bus since it was so gross. I rounded
the corner to the bus stop and see it pulling away, so obvi I decide to chase
it because that's normal and there won't be another one ever. So I take off running towards its next stop,
almost slip and fall, all the while some old man is yelling after me
"you're never gonna make it!!"
Awesome. I sprint across like 4
lanes of traffic (when I don’t have the light) and literally slide onto the
bus. Panting like a maniac. Looking around for someone to just see what I
had just done - like "hey guys - you see that?!". No one cared.
Not even a small smile.
Anywho - let's discuss my gym situation the past 2
days. Two different experiences with the
gym/gym personnel and I'd like to discuss.
My Book: So I'm in a book club, so mature of me,
and I try to bring my book to the gym so I can read/workout simultaneously. The other day unbeknownst to me, I left my
bike without said book. I got all the way
home and realized my misfortune. Especially
since I only have like 50 pages left. And
we meet on Tuesday. So yesterday morning
I called the gym and this was my conversation:
Me: Hi, good
morning. I was in there yesterday and I seemed
to have left my book there. Did anyone turn it in?
Woman/Man/Unclear: I don’t
know what you mean.
Me: Well I'm
confused. I left a book there, did
someone turn it in? I left it on the
recumbent bike in the corner.
Woman/Man/Unclear:
What kind of book?
Me: Do you need the
title?? It's a book - like a book book -
rectangle, has pages, etc. (not getting
annoyed).
Woman/Man/Unclear: I don’t
know what you mean.
Me: I don’t
understand how you're not following. Do you
have a lost and found? Did someone bring
it by? I mean I don’t really think
anyone would steal my book. Can you
please check?
Woman/Man/Unclear: Hold
please. (leaves for about a nano-second)
Woman/Man/Unclear: No
we don’t have no book. I checked your
bike (which is impossible because there is no way they made it there and back
in the time I was on hold).
Me: I just really don’t
understand. Good Bye.
Sooooo that happened.
And then it was another scene when I got there last night and asked a
different person about it. They looked
at me like I had 10 heads. I'm sorry
does no one know what a book is anymore?!
I know I'm not the "norm" by still having physical books - but
I like to hold books. Sorry - I'm old
fashioned!
Why is this my gym?!:
After I had another fight with the
front desk over my book (which by the way is still MIA), I had to go and
workout - gather all that anger/rage and put it towards the elliptical. I go to change and it's pretty empty, so I find
a quiet spot in the corner for my locker.
Literally like one minute later (still its empty), this other girl comes
like right on top of me and decides to set up shop there. I'm sorry - what is the purpose of
that?! I'm also still annoyed, so I'm
like huffing and puffing all over the place.
She doesn't get the hint. I rush
through getting changed and head to my machine.
I have to take one that is in between 2 other girls (it was pretty
crowded). I go to step up on the machine
and put my water bottle in the holder - pretty sure the girl next to me has her
water in my holder - I get all disoriented and proceed to drop my bottle on the
floor/hits the machine on the way down. Don’t
worry it's also metal so it was really quiet and not embarrassing at all when
it sounded like a bomb had just gone off.
Everyone stared including said girl who was the cause of this whole
problem!! She actually proceeded to give
me dirty looks. I'm sorry honey, if you
used your own freaking holder there would have never been a problem in the
first place!! Don't worry - I'm totally
over it. So then I go to get set up - go
to turn on the TV - oh yah it doesn't work.
And now after all the commotion I just made, there is no way I can
change machines. So iPod it up! Boringest workout ever and to top it off
every now and again I got blinded by the nasty girl's engagement ring flailing
in my face. So I finally finish my
cardio and head to the mats for some sit ups.
I find a lil spot and begin. I look
in the mirror and catch a glimpse of this:
creepster guy, yellow pants, tank top, no shoes on, laying on his side
with a gross grin/smirk, just glaring. Soooo
that didn’t' make me uncomfortable at all.
He even got up at one point to "mix his protein shake", came back,
laid down, and stared some more. At no
point in my whole sit up situation did he ever even do anything physical. I got so self conscious when I had to do my
planks because I feel like he could see down my shirt in the mirror - I literally
ran home and showered the grossness away!
So basically I think I need a new gym. I was totally fine with it up until this week
and all hell broke loose! Annnd on that
note - I hope you all have fabulous weekends!!
XOXO
