Bus Wars

Basically if you don’t take public transportation…mainly the bus…you may not sympathize with my situation.  The situation that is the full on bus etiquette war I'm in with another woman at my bus stop.

So every form of public transportation has it's "rules" and things that people just know about and obey.  You get away with not knowing things maybe your first/second time around.  After that - no chance underpants.  Such things may include (but are not limited to):
  • No speakers (ie cell phones, boom boxes, video games, etc.)
  • Not sitting directly on top of another person (if and only if there are no other seats available)
  • Elderly, disabled, pregnant people allll get first dibs on seats
  • When going on the escalator down to your train, you stand to the right and run to the left (might change depending on the city)

Now those are just a few…however my BIGGEST rule is how you get onto said transportation.  Now in NYC, at a bus stop, there is typically some sort of line.  The first person stands wherever and then everyone else that arrives stands behind them.  Now of course there are times where it's more of a "cluster", in these situations, you normally have an idea of who came when and everyone files in accordingly.

There is this woman at my stop every morning and seriously - we're in a huge fight.  First let me explain her.  She looks like she has no idea where she is and doesn't know anything, but don't let that fool you - she knows exactly what she's doing!  She always is wearing a longer trench coat.  And my favorite part is her head gear.  I can't even describe.  She has one hat that kinda looks like this (yes it has fur, too):
However, most of the time she wears a scarf around her head, ties it under her chin, and puts a Yankees bucket hat on top.  What?!  Not necessary.  It doesn't even add warmth!!
Now the fights…every day she comes sweeping in on the corner and pretends to not see the 10 other people standing in line.  She cuts to the front EVER SINGLE TIME!!  So the first few times I let her get away with it, now my friend it's on.  Every day we're in a war/battle.

I now can track the bus on my phone, so when it starts getting close, I position myself to be in front (not cut necessarily, just be in front to box her out).  This morning I shoved myself in front of her, however there was an older woman to my side with a cane, so I obvi let her go ahead of me, she was livid!  Mainly because I almost pushed her over.
crack
Another time I just pretended I didn't see her "merging" into the line, and I just stayed really close to the guy in front of me not letting her in, she was soooo pissed off.  My blood literally boils when I see her.

She's not going to get me - not if I can help it!  I don’t even want her seat, I go to the back of the bus (she sits in the front), but it's just the principle of the thing!

It's officially on biotch…it's on…game over for you and your stupid hat!

Straight Up 'Illin

Ugh - Monday has reared it's ugly head yet again!  I'm so over it!!!  If we could just have 3-4 day weekends every week, I'd be most appreciative.  Thanks!
Friday night was a bit of a bust.  However I did get some new make up at Bobbi Brown before the "event", so that made up for it.  I got these products and I'm already obsessed!
Party Eye Pallete
Nude Peach Blush

I mean it was fine, but everyone there was a fetus.  Like they were still in college (all the guys anyways) and it was just odd.  There were only about 30 people that came, the oldest guy (graduate) was class of '07…so I mean not like he was THAT young, but there was also just one of those.  I mean 2 guys got carded at the open bar and turned down - it was THAT kinda crowd.  Also I had to pay $50 for it - which I'm totally fine with - and it was from 6-9 pm.  So I thought that was reasonable. However, they only had like 3 different kinds of passed apps - all of which were like the frozen ones you get at the grocery store and none of which were good.  And they ran out so quickly that they only came around maybe once.  So I had a few glasses of wine and 2 apps for $50 - and that, my friends, is not ok.  Anyway - I'm glad I went - push myself out of that box!
Saturday I woke up to SNOW!!  I love the snow.  Not like blizzard insane can't go anywhere, but just fun snow.  And now that I live in a place that I don’t have to shovel or drive anywhere, I enjoy it even more - especially on the weekends when I don’t even have to leave my apt if I don’t want to!  So I did a few things around the house before our big departure to Stamford.  I knew this was going to be an interesting trip the second we left our apartments.  We got to Grand Central and walked into a squash tournament going on - yes - in Grand Central - what?!  It was the most bizarre thing.  There was like a huge glass box and all these bleachers like outside the tracks.

I swear - only in New York!  And then as we were making our way through to get our tickets, there were like 3 weddings having their pictures taken.  That I'd never seen before either - but I do heard GC, so I thought it was cute.  We found our train and the ride up was pretty uneventful.  We were able to catch up a bit and it was actually pretty quick!  And then we pulled into Stamford.  When we got out of the train, we were all looking around like idiots and couldn't figure anything out.  At one point, Giuliana said "how is that we're all world travelers and have negotiated foreign cities/countries, but Stamford, CT is throwing us all through a loop?!"  It was stupid.  We got a cab, finally, and went to the hotel.  We were all starving so we pretty much just got changed/ready for the night and went out.
We had dinner at Lola's - which was amazing.  If you're ever in Stamford - you should def check it out!  I had 3 different tacos - sooo good.  And the margs were on point!  After dinner we headed out for the night.  Our first stop was this place called Black Bear.  We got a table and settled in for a night of amazing people watching.  The first ones we spotted was this group of guys that were a little "thugged out" but awesome.  We coined them "the original Contraband" - due to our current obsession with that movie.  One of them had a gold chain with both a cross & a Satan medallion - obviously this was Giuliana's favorite group member. They had flat brimmed hats on - my favorite had a red Nationals one (homage to my old stomping grounds).  They were like old school Marky Mark - quite possibly his "funky bunch".  Then the DJ came in - again - amazing.  He took this gig so seriously - I should also note that it was like a tiny pub type atmosphere.  With him this group of (what we thought were college students) came roaring in.  They were so ready to tie one on.  Like ridic.  Apparently they won some free happy hour and it was all you could drink.  The group leader was none other than this kid, we called "Mellow Yellow".  He had flaming red hair, acted like a moron, was loud, and was wearing a light yellow mock turtleneck sweater (half zip).
We were just sitting there minding our business, having a good time and listening to the DJ when things started to happen.  First this guy (in Mellow Yellow's entourage) approached Carrie and started chatting her up.  With that this other guy comes at me wearing - God knows what and this most awful NY Rangers scarf.  But he didn't even have it tied and it was so gross.  You all know how I feel about guys wearing jerseys, this is now a close second.  And he was obnoxious to boot!  However, he was persistent and WOULD NOT leave me alone!  I was not entertaining him in the least bit, but he kept coming back for more.  In the middle of Giuliana making fun of me, Mellow Yellow comes flying across the room and gets in between her and the guy talking to Carrie, puts his arms around both of them and proceeds to try to speak.  This resulted in him spitting all over Giuliana - it was such a scene. Then I kept telling her to zip his mock turtle up, to which she obliged and got it up little by little.  I was dying.  Then she kept calling him Mellow Yellow and this was their exchange:
Mellow Yellow:  Are you calling me that because I like to get high??
Giuliana:  No - I didn't even know that, nor do I care too.  I'm calling you that because you're wearing a pale yellow mock turtleneck sweater and it's ridiculous.
Mellow Yellow:  Oh.  Well do you guys wanna come back to my apartment and smoke some weed?
Giuliana:  I think we're gonna pass.

So we took a shot - Skier on Acid - Giuliana's choice and headed out to the next bar.  The next one was kinda slow - not much going on.  We stayed for a little bit and called it quits.  That's when the most amazing part of our night was about to begin.  We walked over to this place, Butterfield 8.  We should have known we were in for it when we were walking in as 2 people were getting kicked out. one guy was starting a fight and this girl's hair extensions were on the threshold of the door.  Like we had to step over them to get in.  All signs pointed to amazing.  We got in and headed back to the dance floor.  At first there was only Salsa music playing.  We tried to get into it, but just weren't feeling it.  So we decided that maybe we should just call it a night.  We put our coats on and began to head towards the door.  Then all at once, 3 thigns happened (in unison):
1.  I saw the red flat brimmed Nationals hat (worn by one of the members in the Original Contraband) on a table off to the side.
2.  They DJ started playing Rihanna.
3.  The leader of the Original Contraband emerged.
Giuliana looked at me and Carrie - none of us spoke - we just immediately took our coats back and started dancing.  Our night had come full circle.  The music was awesome and we danced like fools.

Soooo much fun!  We stayed there till closing, briefly checked out one more bar and then headed back to the hotel.  We decided Dominos was a necessity and ordered it immediately.  Of course we waited over an hour, decided it wasn't coming and went to bed.  Next thing we know - phone is ringing and Dominos is at our door.  We all thought we had been sleeping for a good hour, but in actuality it had only been 10 minutes.  I kept yelling that I was already in REM.  So we each had a piece and went back to bed.  Carrie was so confused and kept saying "Is this really happening or am I in a dream?? Why am I eating Dominos in Stamford right now?!"
The next morning we had breakfast and headed back to the city.  Although we all came back WITHOUT rings on our fingers - it was a great little get away!  We had so much fun and the trip was totally worth it!  BTW I kept saying that the night was "straight up 'illin" and the girls were having none of it.  However - I believe it's making a comeback - so basically I'm cutting edge.
My weekend was completed with a Giants win (despite being a Jets fan - I'm pulling for the GMEN!!) It's gonna be a fab Superbowl!  I always love a good Boston/New York show down!!  AND I do love me some Eli - those Mannings are just my faves!  Let's go Giants!!!

A Random Little Post

So two very different things/thoughts for this post.  The first is about a homeless man I encountered last night and the second is a recap of Teen Mom 2.  So here we go!
Homeless Man:
Last night I was waiting for the subway when I heard a boisterous voice coming from a few feet up. He happened to be sitting not far from where I stand to catch the subway (I have it perfectly mapped out to let me off right by the exit…obviously).  It was quite a pleasant voice - similar to one you'd hear on the radio - and then I started to really listen to what was coming out of his mouth.  He was making convictions of sorts and these statements were quite bold…but perhaps not as beautiful.  Let me break this down for you - here are my top 2 favorites (despite his repeating some of them, he did have a few more, but they weren't as profound).
1.  "Love is never sweet like honey!"
So there you have it!  Just when you think it's all sugar and greatness - it gets sticky and complicated! However - I'd challenge this because there are many a time that love is very sweet and quite enjoyable…just like honey!  I just thought this was an odd statement to be yelling from the bench, but who am I?!

2.  "If you're having trouble with a woman...find yourself a lesbian!"
Sooo about this.  Very interesting point…but…what the what?!  This makes absolutely no sense,  but he just kept saying it over and over again.  The  guy standing next to me couldn't stop laughing.

It was the most insane statement ever!  What does it even mean?!  I was dying.

Bottom line - you gotta love New York!  These hidden "gems" are all around - you just have to listen for them!

Teen Mom 2:
Ok so seriously - this might be the beginning of the end of me watching this season.  It really kinda annoyed me and I was bored in like .2 seconds.  BUT for those of you who did watch, here is my 2cents!
LeahOh Leah - you are trying, bless your heart.  If you could just lay off the tanning!
Now she's gonna be working full time and hopefully the girls will be ok.  Corey is being a huge jerk and not supportive - I'm curious to see what their breaking point is and when they get divorced.  And that poor little pumpkin - they still don’t know what 's wrong with her.  So sad.  Hopefully they'll get that straightened out soon and Corey will grow up just a tad.
KailynShe seems to have her shiz together the most out of all 4.  It was good to seem her and Joe getting along.
And her new BF, Jordon, seems like a total nerd alert - but a pretty nice guy.  My only gripe with her is that she is such a Debbie Downer.  She seriously needs to stop with the faces and the constant angst look.  She always looks miserable and like she's about to cry or has just been pouting for about 7 years. Seriously - smile - just for a few minutes.
Chelsea
Seriously gurrrrl pull it together!
That bum of an ex of yours is no good!  Adam is just trying to lure you back in and then break your heart AGAIN!  It's not just getting annoying.  And it's not like he has anything good to even offer you.  He's not cute, he doesn't make any money, and he's not even good to you & your daughter!  AHHH stop running back to him!!!  Ok now I'm getting all verklempt!!

Janelle
Janelle, Janelle, Janelle.  Cyrusly - you're a train wreck.

That low life gross BF of yours has gots to go!  And the sneaking around?!  What part of you did not think you were going to get caught?? Especially when you loan him your car!  Are you that dumb or were you trying to get kicked out?? And that poor lil one Jace - stuck in the middle of all this insanity.  She should not be allowed to go near that child - she should be banned from the house and just have the mom raise that little boy.  He has the fear of God in him every time the camera is on him.  I just feel bad for him.   And then pretending to cry and be all sad that your mom took him away?!  Not a pretty sight!!
She's such a disaster - she needs serious help!
Ok - week is almost over!  Almost Friday the time to party!  And tis the season to partay!!  I have a great weekend coming up - I hope you're whipping those plans into shape!!  XOXO

Mishmash

Hello Hello Party People!!  How's everyone doing?!  A few things that we'll go over today!!  First...I hope you all had fabulous weekends - I know I did!
My sister came into town on Saturday and we walked around Union Square - they have this adorable famer's market on Saturdays - all local stuff.  So it was fun to just walk around and see what they had to offer!  Later on we had dinner at The Smith - umm can we talk about how delish?!  I'm still thinking/dreaming about it!  It was so good.  Afterwards we met up with Giuliana and Carrie for drinks at Cibar - I love this place.  It's a great "in between" bar when you're not quite ready for a rowdy place.  Of course following this there was only one place to go - obviously The Canal Room to see the Rubix Cubes.  Once again (if you recall the last time) - they did NOT disappoint - it was off the charts.  I seriously can't handle them and every song you just wanna throw your hand up and fist pump like the true New Jerseyian that I am!  I love every second of this place - it's just that fun.
Sunday my parents came in and we went to brunch at Bar Americain.  It's one of Bobby Flay's restaurants and again - did. Not. Disappoint.  I basically licked my plate clean.  Yes - I'm THAT girl.  We then went on to see Anything Goes - seriously if you haven't seen it - get your butts there!

This play was phenom!   As a prior tap dancer - I know "what it takes" and these people are so beyond mega talented.  I basically crying with joy/excitement during one number.  And right now the grandmother from Gilmore Girls is in it and a few other famous people.

The main character - Sutton Foster - OMG girlfriend is unbelievable!

It's a must see - just fun show!
And last night was another fun night!  We went to the Mets game - things got cray cray.  Giuliana has these amahhhhzing season tix and she wanted to take me and Carrie - unfortunately, she got sick yesterday and wasn't up for going, so we decided to invite Hazel.  We get there after I basically sweat like 8 pounds off on the subway ride over and we were searching for our seats.  Finally find them - Oh, I'm sorry…what?!  We're basically behind home plate (7th row) and slightly to the left.  We're then informed that we can get free hot dogs, chips, pretzels & popcorn in the "lounge".  You would have thought that the 3 of us had never eaten before in our lives.  We dove in there - each had about 3 rounds worth and hten were ready to watch the game.  A few beers here and there and things were getting entertaining!  Carrie was really adamant about wanting to "engage" the opposing team.  I will give her credit - she did get a lil wink & nod from Edgar Renteria - it was hilar.

We also became friends with the staff - Samantha, Phil & Al.  One of Giuliana's family friends came down to say hi and insisted on getting us more food - it was completely opposite of what we needed.  All in all it was great night and we had so much fun - it just would have been even better if Giuliana hadn't gotten sick!
So here we are - guys full disclose I'm having heart palpitations about the fall TV schedule.  I'm already behind on Gossip Girl (missed last night) and I wanted to see that new Hart of Dixie - with Rachel Bilson.  Tonight 90210 & Glee are competing and New Girl oh and let's not forget Teen Mom Check-Up with Dr. Drew!  I missed Giuliana & Bill and RHOBH the other night. I have so much to catch up on and so little time to do it without getting completely behind!!  Seriously - anxiety attack happening right now.
And I should mention that I'm in a complete womp womp mood - someone is having a birthday tomorrow and that girl is me!  I just don’t really like my birthday and kinda want it to be over.  I mean it's possibly fun for a hot second

and then it's not at all and then I'm all...

But I have a lil lunch date with my bestie and her little boy - so that will for sure make my day a lil bit better!  For now - I have a lot of TV to watch so I'll be signing off!  XOXO

Challenge Accepted

So I know you're getting sick of my apologies and empty promises - but work has seriously taken over my life these past few weeks.  It's been cray cray to the max.  Sooo once again - sorry for being absentee.  Hopefully this story will help and make up for it.  It involves Giuliana, Carrie, a pair of jeans and MIA boys.

This past weekend I was overcome with not one, but two migraines.  And for all of you out there that get them - you feel my pain.  Friday night I was a disaster.   I popped more pills than I care to remember - I woke up Saturday morning feeling like a bobble head and just hoping I kicked this thing!  I did…for a little while at least.  So I ran around on Saturday - I was quite productive!  In my travels I was on a search for a pair of black skinny jeans.  I feel like these are a good fall staple.  After being in Bloomingdales for over an hour and trying on about 20 pairs of jeans, the girl, who I warned I was a "problem child", finally threw in her white flag.  She was like I'm done - I can't help you any more.  So she took me aside and whispered for me to go upstairs to the other department to see what was up there.  I did just that and found the best thing that has ever happened to me. Now I'm slightly embarrassed about what I'm about to tell you - but I feel it is my duty to share this secret.  I wound up getting the most amazing pair of "Not Your Daughters" jeans!  I shrieked even writing it!  But seriously guys - they're amazeballs. Soooo comfortable and according to Carrie - my ass never looked better!  These are the ones I got and I'm obsessed:

So that I night I wore those bad boys and my new Trina Turk shirt - I was ready to go!  Me, Giuliana & Carrie went to Centro for dinner - basically I licked my plate it was so delish!  After that we were raring to go!  We bounced around a bit then committed to a bar.  It was fun - nothing crazy.  That is when Giuliana decided to throw the gauntlet.  She challenged me to walk up to 2 guys and tell them that my jeans "were not my daughters".  CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

The next guys that walked by us - I ever so awkwardly sauntered up and this was our exchange:

Me:  Hey - what's up - so quick thing - these aren't my daughters.
Guy:  What - I'm confused what is going on
Me:  Not a big deal - just tell that girl over there that you agree- not my daughters
*Giuliana is doubled over at this point and Carrie is trying so hard not to die laughing - we think we're hilar*
Guy:  I don’t know what is going on
Me:  Seriously - this isn’t fun - just tell her "yes" and lets move on.
It started to not be funny- the guy was so dumb and not playing along at all and above all else I think he must have eaten like a bulb of garlic and washed it down with beer - he smelled so bad.  So although I accepted the challenge - it wasn't as fun as we anticipated.  Tough crowd.  Then this other group of guys came over and they were actually fun - joking around, etc. - so nice. We were getting ready to leave - my headache came back and I was not in good shape.  So as we were walking out the fun group of guys followed us and were asking where we were going.  I started to talk to one of them - he was totally cute - and he was like yah well text me and let me know where you go - maybe we can meet up.  I said great - turned around to the girls and said - awesome he wants me to text him but I don’t have his number - oh well.  WRONG!!  Giuliana & Carrie started yelling at me telling me I had to chase him down the street and get his number! CHALLENGE #2 THROWN & ACCEPTED!  I got my slow job in gear and off I went.  I didn’t even know his name I was just yelling "Excuse me!  Excuse me!"  Finally I caught up, grabbed his arm and he turned around.  Again - with such grace I sputtered something out to the affect of:  "my friends said I needed to give you my number and then you walked away, so I was just coming back to give you my number in case you wanted to call me".  My game is so on point!  He smiled and took my number and said he'd call.  So I slinked back to the girls told them I did it and they were like 2 proud parents!  I'm back in the game!  We went home and called it a night.

The next morning I actually did get a text from him at like 10 AM!  I was pretty surprised - but it was cute and we texted back and forth a bit on Sunday.  He's also a Jets fan - so we chatted about the game a bit.  BUT here's the dilemma - I haven't heard from him since Sunday!  Totally weird!  Especially since in one of the texts he basically asked me out.  So what do I do?!  Do I just forget about it and chalk it up to some guy I basically met on the street and not even go down that road of disappointment?? Or do I go balls out - CHALLENGE #3 STYLE - and text him tonight/tomorrow and then forget about it if I don’t hear from him?!  And if I do text him - what do I say??  As you can see - I hate these things and I hate being a girl in these situations.  It's the worst!  I need advice!!  Send along your thoughts!!

It's almost Friday!!  At least I have that going for me!!  XOXO

Nailed It

I forgot to mention yesterday the obsession I have with OPI's latest line.  It's called "Touring".  I got my nails done on Sunday and found it - dying.  Absolutely love it.  I'm just getting ready to start going darker on my nails - that time of year!  But I was still a little hesitant and wanted to keep some "lightness" to them - it is only the beginning of September - we have a long season ahead of us!  Sooo I went with "French Quarter For Your Thoughts" on my nails…

And for my toes I did an orangey/pink - similar to this…

I can't wait to try some of these dark new colors - I'm grossly excited for it!  Who's in?!  And tonight is Fashion Night Out - I can't wait!

I'll most likely be rubbing elbows with the Kardashians - sooo I'll try to remember "the little people" on my way up.  I'll fill you in tomorrow on what I saw and who I saw (my luck - prob no one!).  So excited!!  And I'll leave you with this...a little gem this woman I work with ACTUALLY said during a meeting...true story...straight faced... "if everything is all hetzel scketzel then I'll skedaddle early."

Turn That "Womp Womp" Mood Around!

Hello world! So today I'm kinda having a bit of a "womp womp" day. Nothing is "wrong", but just nothing is "right". Everything just feels a bit "off". Like I could completely break down in tears at any second.  I'm just not feeling the love today.

I'm trying to just focus on fun things. AKA a recently planned trip for Sydney & Kit to come up to NYC to "live my life" for a weekend. Things like that are getting me through this little funk.

Last night I saw The Change Up with Ryan Reynolds & Jason Bateman.

I thought it was pretty funny. Those 2 can really do no wrong by me - so I was laughing before I even got there. There were a few things I didn't "care for", but as a whole I thought it was funny and def worth seeing. I also love Leslie Mann - she is hilarious.

She just really nails that "housewife" role in every movie she does. I think her timing is impeccable and her chemistry with both Ryan & Jason was on point. I think she's genius. I also really enjoyed Olivia Wilde.

Again the chemistry was spot on and I thought she played the part very well. I'm trying not to give anything away - because I loathe when people do that - so I'm sorry for being so "cryptic".

Speaking of people who can do no wrong by me - I recently had the opportunity to see Jimmy Fallon live- doing his stand up.

And let me tell you - I basically peed my pants. He is so freaking funny I can't even stand it. He just doesn't disappoint. And it's "clean" non-offensive hilariousness. I just totally heart him and would marry him and have his children if he didn't already have a wife. I mean really - that is the ONLY thing standing in my way! He's just so adorably hysterical. Robin Williams (NBD) also happened to be sitting next to me and he shared my views on him - he laughed so loud I thought he stopped breathing for a second.  Not gonna lie - I was right there with him!

Here were a few of my fave jokes/bits (they might be more funny in person):

• He sang a song "Carwash for Peace" about a carwash he'd like to hold to raise money for peace in the Middle East and he was going to hold it across from the Wal-Mart Super Center.
• He discussed water guns these days and how ridiculous they are compared to the plastic ones we grew up with and how we used to have to fill ours up and hope that little plastic "plug" that was all chewed up didn't fall out - and obviously it only lasted like 5 squirts. Now they have these machine gun types with back up amo and back packs filled with water.
• He did his "Thank You Notes" and my favorite was: thank you man named Lloyd for spelling your name with 2 L's, because if you only spelled it with 1 - we might pronounce your name: Loyd.

He did a bunch of other funny things - basically I had tears streaming down my face and couldn't breath. I was doubled over in laughter - I totally heart him.

Ok just remembering those things seemed to shift my mood a bit. I even giggled when I was writing about Jimmy. I hope you are all enjoying your "Hump Day"! Until next time and hopefully then I won't be such a Debbie Downer!!
