Happiest of V-Days!!

Happy Valentine's Day Betches!!  Haha - not sure why I said that - sounded better in my head.  Anywho…hope all your little hearts are filled with love!  I've gotten 5 valentine's today already …who's jealy?!  1 from my dad, one from each of my 3 nephews and 1 from CCK's lil girl!  I mean I don't really think it gets much better than that!  ANNND my day's not even over…so valentine's day = winning.

In the last 24 hours, however, not all things have been "winning".  I've had a few mishaps along the way and a few things happen that I'd rather not and/or never thought would happen.  Let's discuss…

1.  We got more snow.  Now I know this isn't going to turn into a weather rant, but seriously - Pax you are a biotch.  Along with each of these lovely days, I've developed a routine of how I need to prepare for the elements.  Huge/puffy/long North Face coat (hood up of course), huge scarf, boots (preferably that come to my knee), mittens and earmuffs (that my cousin made for me from an animal of some sort that he hunted…Merry Christmas).  You can picture in your head how attractive and sex-pot-ish I look.   Line forms to the left boys!

2.  With said elements comes this gross disgusting slush.  It's a mixture of garbage, dirt, snow, sleet, rain and ice…beautiful.  And it's cold as a mo-fo…so if you step off that curb into it…usually you're about calf deep and people - it's miserable!  Yesterday, while waiting for the bus, some idiot thought it was fun to drive like a maniac and spray said sludge/water/grossness all over me…knee down…never been more angry.
And then while walking to work this morning some guy kicked it and it got all over me…it actually hit the 3 inches of my legs that are not covered by some sort of winter gear…tights out lights out for me (did that make sense…again…sounded good in my head).

3.  I got a LinkedIn request from my former landlord in DC.  I immediately texted Sydney who was dying.  Like why me?  Why now?  Just why?!  We used to live in this garden style building, so there were only about 6 units.  He was a lunatic…spoke with an accent thought he was like this Latin lover.  His maintenance guy, Ricky, and him used to fight ALL THE TIME.  And Sydney and I would put the TV on mute and just listen…best arguments ever.  And my favorite one ended like this…screams screams screams (all in another language) then…landlord to Ricky "I luh you".
image
What?!  If you all could have seen the looks on our faces...I can't even imagine.  This was amazing and the best thing I ever heard.  Lesson learned...as much as they fought they always had love for each other.  So yah people…we're now LinkedIn - I'm sure he's going to bring me a lot of professional growth.

4.  Is it weird that I kinda heart the trifecta that all go medals in last night's Men's Slopestyle?!  I mean I feel like their combined age might add up to someone I could legally date, but I'm kinda smitten.  They're just arorbs.  And they're pretty bad-ass…those jumps were no joke.  I literally was clenching my blanket  hoping no one would die.

Well I'm off to Boston for the weekend to visit my newbie nephew…couldn't be more excited!  I hope you all have a fabulous Valentine's Day filled with love, laughs & wine (obvi)!!  XOXO

Apparently I'm The Most Unorganized Organized Person

Ummm since when does it snow in mid-November and then go up to 60 degrees like 3 days later?!  What is going on lately?!?!?!?  Seriously - I can't handle it.  Everyone is getting sick, my migraines have been out of control, can we please just pick a temperature and somewhat stick to it??
image

Which brings me to my dilemma this morning.  I've been really trying to go to the gym before I go  into work, which, yes, is totally gross.  But my nights have been so nuts lately and that's always the first thing to go.  So I've been trying to get into a routine of 6:30 am wake up, on some sort of equipment by 7 am, showering by 8 am and work by 8:45 am at the latest.  It gives me time to do what I need to do and then on the weekends I can enjoy a spin class or Pilates.  I digress…this morning I walked out in cropped pants, sneakers, tank top, thankfully I put on a long sleeved shirt over my tank top and then my coat.  I walk out of my building and literally it's like monsooning out.  The wind is insane, it's raining and it's about 1 degree.  I was completely unprepared for the elements.  Which led me to thinking that since I've been doing this whole morning routine I have been unprepared in more ways then one.  My intentions of being all good and healthy and doing this in the morning are good, the outcome...not so much.  Every morning I look into my bag with this same expression:

I have either forgotten or brought the wrong thing…examples:
- No undies (had to go to the Gap when they opened to purchase a new pair)
- No bra (had to wear my gross sports bra until I could go to the Gap to buy a new one)
- A sweater that matched my outfit…only to find a huge hole in the armpit
- A skirt that totally fit last year…not so much this year
- Stockings…with a run
- Tights I thought were opaque tights but were really just sheer stockings (not a good look when you need tights)
- No moisturizer for my face (which sounds stupid, but I'm using things now that make my face basically feel like cracked clay without it)
- No commuting flats (so I had to rock the tights & sneakers look)
- No brush - which is just awesome
- A dress that is blatantly too short (shrunk in the wash and wasn't that short last time)

I know there is probably more, but this is all I can talk about at this point.  I've come to work more times than I'd like to think about dressed like a complete maniac.  Good thing no one really talks to me.  Womp womp.  Or maybe they just don’t talk to me because I either look like a crazy person or the office slore…either way...I need to get more thoroughly organized in this routine!!!

Rise Up

While my sister's wedding was absolutely gorgeous and she looked spectacular and it was a blast, unfortunately we go hit with a curve ball on Sunday night. It was a fabulous wedding and we had a great time, but I'd like to discuss something a little more serious today.

I hope everyone reading this is safe and dry! This has been an insane past few days for all us New Yorkers, New Jerseyians & Connecticutites (not sure if any of those are "PC"). I've been overwhelmed by what Mother Nature has the capacity to do. While I know a lot of people out there have dealt with destruction and devastation, this part of the country/world has been awfully lucky. We are not in an "area" that is generally hit by these types of storms. Snow storms, yes, we'll take it and we're prepared. But this, this was just insanity.

I'm not going to pretend I had the worst, I was incredibly lucky. My parents still don’t have power and won't for most likely 10 days. They are in the same boat as others. I was lucky and still have power. However, my night on Monday night was incredibly scary. I live alone in a studio on the 6th floor. Basically my whole back wall is a 20 foot window. I was so terrified that it was going to just blow in. And the wind between the apartments was creating a wind tunnel of sorts in the hallway and all night my door was just banging. It was so scary - especially being alone.

When I woke up on Tuesday, I had no idea what to expect. The area around me was ripped through. I was walking up the FDR, which was crazy, it's always bumper to bumper with traffic, but yesterday, there was not a single car. It was really eerie.

I think what really got me the most was the devastation to my beloved Jersey Shore. It's basically washed away. We have so much to rebuild and put back together. There are memories, homes, businesses, that have just been demolished. Boardwalks are gone and streets are flooded beyond recognition.

I'm not trying to be all Debbie Downer and sappy, but as I was walking into work today I was listening to Bruce Springsteen's song "My City of Ruins" and I just started to cry. If you've never heard it, it was about 9/11, however it was so fitting for what is going on. And for Springsteen, he's a shore guy, it just really got to me. When you hear the lyrics (I also put them below), you'll get it…

"My City of Ruins"

There is a blood red circle
On the cold dark ground
And the rain is falling down
The church door's thrown open
I can hear the organ's song
But the congregation's gone
My city of ruins
My city of ruins

Now the sweet bells of mercy
Drift through the evening trees
Young men on the corner
Like scattered leaves,
The boarded up windows,
The empty streets
While my brother's down on his knees

My city of ruins
My city of ruins

Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!
Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!
Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!

Now's there's tears on the pillow
Darlin' where we slept
And you took my heart when you left
Without your sweet kiss
My soul is lost, my friend
Tell me how do I begin again?

My city's in ruins
My city's in ruins

Now with these hands,
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray Lord
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray for the strength, Lord
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray for the faith, Lord
We pray for your love, Lord
We pray for the lost, Lord
We pray for this world, Lord
We pray for the strength, Lord
We pray for the strength, Lord

Come on
Come on
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up

We have a long road ahead of us - but we will "Rise UP" once again! Stay safe! XOXO

Who Said It's My Birthday?!

So in trying to keep up with my promise...here's today's post about me not wanting my birthday to arrive.  Tomorrow is my birthday - bleh.

I'm going to be Double Sweet Sixteen.  I'm normally not the girl that gets totally hyped about birthdays - but generally I'll do a lil something.  But this year - nothing.  It's going to rain tomorrow and I'm already just not excited.  There's no one around to go grab drinks.  SO next week I'm going to do a lil joint thing, but as for tomorrow - maybe a lil mani/pedi action is in store.  Maybe some takeout and a movie - I don't know - sky's the limit I suppose.  I'll check in tomorrow and let you know my status.  AKA if I haven't left my house and I'm in my PJ's with my head in the freezer searching for ice-cream.  Not trying to be all Debbie Downer but to sum it up...

Teen Mom Speed

Hi Friends!! Sooo there was this little thing called Hurricane Irene and seriously - she was a lil beotch! I got stuck in NJ for a few days and my parents JUST got power back - totally crazy. I was living like a pioneer and let me tell you - I was not cut out for that lifestyle!

Anywho - I've gotten back to civilization and things are starting to settle down. So without further adieu - I'll give you my latest Teen Mom recap. And PS - what the what is going down on the Jersey Shore?! It's getting hella crazy - I can't wait for tonight! Oh and PPS - who's sooo excited that Beyonce and Jay-Z are having a baby - I literally got teary eyed after her performance - sooo much love!

Ambular - You need to go away. I'm so over you and your drama. Geeary sends her like a million roses (again - where is this money coming from) and she's sitting with her latest and greatest loser beau and he gets on the phone and starts yelling at Geeary and fighting. Such WT up in this piece! I can't handle it. And then Geeary is just trying to set up his tree/rod with a few things sticking out. The poor baby is running around with (yet again) no clothes on. It's just a nightmare. Then Amber starts freaking out about not being a "family" putting up the tree.

At what stage did you think you were a family?! Was it when you were punching your baby daddy?? Going out on your umpteenth date?! Or when you were neglecting your child?! I'm just a lil confused. Seriously - pull it together gurl!

Maci - Again - kinda vanilla this week. The best part is when they were playing with Bentley (who is getting more and more adorbs by the week)

and they all had on Toy Story "costumes".

She needs to just pony up and head on back to school. Get your degree and lets move on!

Catelyn - Once again - my heart bleeds for these two. They move into another new house and hope that they'll be able to afford this one. Her dad comes back into town, after being away for 4 years. At one point her response to the question "are you excited to see him" she yells "heck yeah I am - I haven't seen him in forever".

He is seemingly the most normal parent (with exception to Tyler's mom who does try hard). I don’t know where he's been hiding and why he doesn't come around - he needs to be there for her. She needs one ounce of stability in her life. I hope he gets this job and is in fact normal and comes back and helps these two!

Farrah - Oh Farrah, my disdain for you is growing weekly. I CAN NOT handle her much longer. Talk about little beotch - girlfriend needs to check herself.

She does nothing but yell, bitch, and complain. I'm not saying her parents are amazing, they have issues, but they are depicting them to be Saints right now. I don’t know why they'd even want her to stick around - I'd send her packing on the first flight out! I think the only thing they like about her is her child. So this week Arizona is the place that she HAS to move to. Her parents tag along and she does nothing but yell at them. All the while they are paying her way, taking care of her child, and helping her. It ends with her yelling that they need family counseling to communicate (while shoving her face with food that her parents prob bought) and Michael calming (as always) agrees. I can't wait to see how this goes! This girl needs a reality check or a one way ticket!

Ok - consider yourselves up to Teen Mom speed! Can't wait to see JS tonight - epic!! XOXO

Trifecta

Whoa - seriously peeps - we have a LOT to cover. Let me break this down for you - Earthquake, white pants, Teen Mom. So without further adieu - let me begin.

EARTHQUAKE
For those of you who haven't heard - or have been living under a rock - an earthquake shook (no pun intended) the East Coast. Started in my old stomping grounds - DC and shimmied it's way all the way up to New England. My friends in DC were all fine - a little disheveled - some evacuations and it scurred the B-Jesus out of them - but they are OK.

I was on the 35th floor of a building - exactly where I'd like to be when a natural disaster strikes. I started to feel really dizzy - that's about the extent of it. I couldn't explain why - but I felt not right. Some of the other rooms had things shaking - I just felt weird. So I'm not gonna pretend it was all hella cray cray up here - but still - it was weird. People in these parts are not accustomed to that type of thing. Which is WHY its seriously pissing me off that others keep downplaying our earthquake. No - by no means was it bad - BUT it still happened and it can be scary. So stand back and let us be a little "shaken" (again - no pun intended). Obviously in places like DC & NYC when things start to shake - from our prior experience - it usually means something pretty serious. So a lot of those emotions were played out when this all happened. In the (semi) words of Sammi Sweetheart - Just let us do us.

WHITE PANTS
Moving on to the next natural disaster that is coming our way (again not as bad as it will be in the south) - IRENE. Now I don’t think the rain today is from Irene - yet - but it's pouring like a mofo out there.

Oh wait - I wasn't caught in a musical and having all funsies.  I had the bright idea to wear white pants. To my defense - I had no idea we were getting rain today - and it was gorgeous out this morning. I had to run an errand at lunch and got stuck in a torrential downpour. Let me break this down for you - me in white pants that are kinda a lil snug + monsoon = a lunatic wearing see-threw pants that are suctioned onto her legs. I'm so embarrassed. I was trying to run back into my office without anyone noticing and of course my secretary picks that moment to have a convo with me - not the time - just not the time! So I finally scurried away and closed my door - only to realize I had to go to the bathroom. So I quickly slow jogged there - did my thang - and slow jogged back. Now I'm just trying to dry off - so gross. I hate wet pants - worst!

TEEN MOM
Ok seriously - the other night was OOC. Let me break it down by girl:

Maci: Get your head out of your butt!! Are you seriously talking about having another baby with kyyyal?!

You can't even finish school with just one child! Gurl - you need to pull it together - get a degree and get a job! How do you think you're gonna pay for 2 kids?! And lets not even start on the fact that you're not even legal to drink yet! Stop being ridiculous!

Catelyn: God love these two. They try so hard and their parents always seem to take them 8 steps back.

They got Carly all these presents which they probably can't afford and want her to come to their graduation. Then Tyler's mom goes and calls Brandon & Teresa - scares them silly - and now things are potentially ruined. Now - out of ALL their parents - Tyler's mom seems to have her head on straight and it trying to "do good". She just wasn't thinking - then gets all upset and concerned that she ruined everything. Once again - Tyler & Catelyn morph into the parental figures and calm her down. Again - I actually don’t mind his mom - but seriously - use your brain!

Farrah: Whoa - she really needs to stop with the attitude. I've kind of had it with her. She suddenly decides she needs to move ASAP and leave her whole support system to chase her dream out in California. She snaps at Michael & her mom numerous times and just consistently acts like a spoiled brat. She leaves the baby - again -

and heads to CA only to find that she hates it. Upon returning she declares that she is still moving and no one can stop her. I'm anxious to see how she does all this on her own when she could barely pay her own bills a few months ago and had to take out a loan for a boob job.

Amber: Oh Amber - you continue to show your white trash ways. She finally is able to "get the house together" - why it took so long I have no idea - she doesn't work and doesn't go to school - what do you do all day?! She brings that poor little child into her house only to pawn her off a few hours later so she can go on a date.

Even though her child didn't want her to go - she declared that she still needed to do these things and keep bringing a string of strange men into her child's life. This date was really special. We come to find out that "Clinton" also has a child and simply stated "me and the baby's mom didn’t work out". Obviously - your next step would be to find someone else and hope for "play dates" together. Another gem of a line that I took away was when Amber said, "between that (meaning a salad) and the bread - I'm tripping". REALLY?! Why - just why!? We then go back to Geeery who pretends to care about this baby and his mom. Is anyone else concerned that his mom can't keep her glasses on her nose??? They are always slipping down and annoying me.

So there you have it. I hope you are all battening down the hatches and preparing for Irene!! It's gonna be a big one! All I can say is: COOL IT IRENE!!
